Joseph and Megan

Hello,  We are Joe and Megan and we are extremely honored to be considered as possible parents for your baby. We have been in love and happily married since 2014. We enjoy long walks, being outdoors, taking in movies, and catching up with friends and family. We enjoy life together and pray and dream of becoming parents and welcoming a baby into our family through adoption daily.

Fate brought us together when we met two days after Christmas in 2012 when our paths crossed by accident. We were out with friends at a local pizza pub where we were introduced to each other by mutual friends. There was an immediate connection, and the rest is history! Joe was living in Kansas at the time we met and would come back on weekends so we could get to know each other.Four months later he moved back to Nebraska, and we married in 2014.

Some of the things we dream about and can’t wait to experience as parents is hearing your little one’s first words and seeing them take their first steps. We recognize the importance of parenting being a part of helping their child learn and grow with all their daily life experiences. We look forward to trips to the park and the zoo, helping him or her to learn how to ride a bike, and reading bedtime stories every night as your child falls to sleep. It will be so rewarding to watch your child grow and develop their own personality! As they continue to grow into a young person and make friends of their own, both in school and with all the neighbor kids, we know it will be even more important as parents to be there to help support them with whatever they need to live in a loving, caring and healthy environment. We recognize the choice you are considering is one of the most difficult a woman can face. Entrusting your child to be raised by someone else requires incredible strength, bravery, and most of all, love for your child. We deeply respect that. Please know that we would love to share photos, milestones, and precious moments of your child with you, and we want you to have the ability to check in whenever you want.

Megan and I were introduced by a mutual friend on a holiday weekend, and I don’t think either one of us was planning on meeting the person we were going to spend the rest of their life with that night. I was immediately attracted to her funny and outgoing personality. After a few dates, our relationship grew closer with a lot of talks about what we both wanted in a life partner and our future. Starting and raising a family was something we had both always wanted and as our relationship grew, we spent time with our friends and their children and our nieces and nephews, I could see how wonderful Megan was with children.  I knew that Megan was the one that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with and the one I wanted to have a family with.  She will be such a wonderful mother to your child, and I can’t wait for our dreams to come true as our journey continues.

Megan:  What is one thing from childhood that has had a major impact on you?

Growing up with my parents divorced, I was very fortunate to have both parents active in my life.  They both always showed up to my events like parent-teacher conferences and best of all, they even sat together.  The best thing I could always count on was that both homes were always filled with love.

How would you describe yourself Megan?

I’m very outgoing, talkative, loyal, artistic and a good wife, (but it’s easy to be a good wife to someone that makes you feel so loved.)

Joe: How would you describe Megan?

She’s fun, outgoing, personable and has a great sense of humor.  She likes to go for walks, go out to dinner and a movie and she likes to spend time with me.

When I first met Joe, all his friends would talk about how amazing he was with their kids, who would often call him “Uncle Joe”!  I couldn’t wait for Joe to meet my niece and nephews.  When they did finally meet their Uncle Joe, they lit up like stars and couldn’t wait to start playing and letting the never-ending fun begin!  Everyone who knows Joe loves him because he has a heart of gold and is a genuine guy all around. He really enjoys his job and everyone he works with enjoys him as well. The biggest thing I can say about us is our love for each other and our amazing sense of humor. The moment I met Joe I could see the perfect father that he would one day be.

Joe: What is one thing from childhood that has had a major impact on you?

When I was growing up my parents always made sure we attended as many family functions as possible. We spent a lot of time with aunts, uncles, grandparents, and even great grandparents. I was fortunate to have many generations on both sides of my family around for me to get to know and be a part of my life as I was growing up. This really showed me the importance of family.

How would you describe yourself Joe?

I’m easy to talk to, able to solve problems easily, loving, and responsible.

Megan:  How would you describe Joe?

He’s a wonderful caretaker, everyone loves him, he spoils me and makes me feel so loved.

While dating we talked about how our lives would be so much more fulfilled with children in it.  A child has such a special way of adding joy to each day.  After we got married, we started right away trying to have the family of our dreams.  After taking some time to deal with our infertility, we decided that we were going to have go in a different direction with bringing a baby into our lives and decided that adoption was the new path for us.  Megan has two siblings who were adopted, and it was a natural decision for us to make. We pray for the day that our hopes and dreams of becoming parents come true and can’t wait to share our life, our love and experiences with a child of our own.

We moved into our home that we built together with having a family in mind.  The house is in a nice, quiet area that is full of friendly people and lots of kids. The ages of the kids are anywhere from just learning to walk to scooting around on their bikes and scooters. Being in a big, open cul-de-sac allows for plenty of space for a little one to safely learn how to ride a bike and have all kinds of fun childhood experiences like playing hide n seek, tag and even camping in the backyard. We can’t wait to run around in our backyard with your child and there’s even enough room for a swing set and possibly a pool in the future.

The neighborhood has recently added a second park, and both are within walking distance of our home. Not far from one of the parks are two small fishing ponds that are also used for ice skating in the winter. There is an elementary school only a couple blocks from us, that is not even five years old yet and they have already expanded the buildings. This summer they have started having food trucks brought into the neighborhood offering everything from breakfast, BBQ and ice cream.

There are also two churches in the neighborhood with such nice families and great Sunday school and summer programs for kids of all ages. A new YMCA was built less than five minutes from us, with a great number of activities for children and for parents. It has indoor and outdoor pools and a new middle school attached. With all these things available to us we have endless options to keep a young one busy with activities and experiences that everyone will remember forever.

We enjoy outdoor activities, movies and going out to our favorite restaurants. Our neighborhood and city have endless bike paths and sidewalks for nice long walks or bike rides. Some of the other things we like to do outside include swimming at one of the many pools we have to choose from in our community. It’s always nice on a cool evening to grill out and catch up with neighbors, friends or family. Megan’s preferences for movies probably lean more towards romance and comedy, and Joe will watch pretty much anything, but does like action and movies based on true stories. Joe is also a pretty big sports fan, especially football and golf. He has been a lifelong football fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the San Francisco 49ers and has enjoyed playing golf with his dad and friends since he can remember. Some of our favorite restaurants include a couple different Mexican places on our end of town. We also have great Italian and sushi places close by and a burger pub that we love.

When we have a 3-day weekend, we like to check out what’s going on in the community and see if there are any events we may want to attend like local Farmer’s markets, movies, Nebraska football, basketball, and volleyball games. Sometimes we sneak away for a couple days to Omaha, and we also enjoy heading to Iowa to see Megan’s brother and his family.

Megan will be home most of the time with your little one and Joe will be anxious to get home to the sounds of “daddy’s home!” Day-to-day plans would include indoor and outdoor activities, play dates with friends and their kids, story time every night at bedtime, trips to Barnes and Noble to pick out more books for us to read, and getting to know and spend time with all of Baby’s new family members.

Megan’s parents divorced when she was six but didn’t allow the divorce to interfere with the lives of their children and continue to be a part of their children’s everyday lives. Truly it was the best of both worlds! People would often say, “Are your parents really divorced?” Megan has an older brother and sister who were brought into her life through adoption. Her brother is married and lives in Iowa and has two children who are growing up fast, now 5 and 7 years old. Her sister is also married and lives in Missouri with one son who just turned 13.  Megan’s mom spends her winters in Arizona and the rest of the year here in Nebraska. Unfortunately, we lost Megan’s dad two months after we got married to dementia and Parkinson’s disease.

Joe was raised in the same house throughout his childhood with both parents and a brother who is three years younger. Growing up for him involved a large extended family experience with seven aunts and uncles on his dad’s side and three more on his mom’s. With so many cousins, sometimes it was hard to keep track of everybody!  Joe’s parents also live here in Nebraska and are less than ten minutes away from us. They also recently purchased a property in Arizona to spend some time there with Joe’s younger brother and his wife and two kids. Our parents, aunts, uncles and cousins are so supportive of our adoption journey and can’t wait to welcome and meet your child into our family.

Over the years our families have enjoyed many family reunions, celebrating parties and the holidays together. Some of the special events that we cherished the most were getting the chance to be part of our nieces and nephews’ baptisms and birthdays.  We can’t wait for our family to join in the celebration of your child’s special days.  Other fun activities besides watching the kids grow up was being a part of their lives while they tried new sports, taking them to the zoo or their favorite parks and we have even enjoyed attending a hot-air balloon race with them.

Because of you, our dreams have come true in becoming a mom and dad to your child and that will be a blessing we will celebrate every day of our lives.

From morning kisses to bedtime stories and kisses goodnight, you will always be honored, loved, and respected by us.  Your child will know the beautiful story of their adoption, of the love you have for them and the love we have for you.

With Megan’s creative side, we plan on putting together a picture book of your child’s story that we can also add to as we celebrate Birth Mother’s Day every year!

I, Megan, feel so blessed to have my brother and sister as part of my life through the miracle of adoption.  Adoption has always been very special to me and was always an open topic of conversation in my family and my siblings were never treated any differently.

Our promise to you is that we will always be open and honest with you about everything that goes on with your child.

We have prayed for and waited a long time for your child, and we promise to love your child unconditionally for the rest of our lives.
