We can’t imagine how difficult and emotionally challenging this process may be for you, but it’s important to us for you to know that we admire your courage and are inspired by probably the most selfless decision anybody could make by entrusting their most precious gift to us. We want to be open and honest with you throughout the process from start to finish. We understand that adoption can be a sensitive subject between birth/adoptive parents and their children. We plan to be honest with your child about where they came from and will instill pride that you are their mother. Please know that we don’t take this process and decision lightly and that your baby will grow up in the most loving and supportive home. They will be OK.

We have always wanted to adopt! One of our very first conversations as a newly dating couple was discovering that we both had always wanted to adopt in addition to having our own children. So far, we have been unable to have our own biological children, but we would’ve always chosen to adopt. We know that we were always meant to adopt and are so thrilled to be on this journey together!

Our daily lives consist of full-time work, staying active by prioritizing fitness (3-4 days a week) and making sure our dog Fiona gets her energy out by taking her out on long walks twice a day with the occasional time playing fetch at the park so she can run around to her heart’s content! We may seem to be always on the go, but we definitely value our time spent as a little family at home, on the couch, under blankets with snacks, cooking or getting take out, and watching Netflix, sports or reality TV. We love and prioritize international travel (1-2 trips a year), camping and long road trips, and taking our dog Fiona EVERYWHERE! One of our favorite things is watching her experience the world around her and making her happy! She provides us with so much unconditional love, and we enjoy showing her that love in return. We are excited to bring your child into our lives to experience with them all the beautiful things this world has to offer in the best way we know how. Although we love our lives now, we are still missing that piece of fulfillment and purpose in raising a child and helping them to discover the joy in life.

Krista is a level-headed, compassionate, and loyal person who is not easily distracted or influenced by flashy or temporary popular consensus. She is patient, humorous and sees the truly valuable and important things in life such as love, truth, loyalty, consistency, dependability and hard work. She values health and fitness, keeping an open mind, and understands that people and others come with their own stories and perspectives. This is why traveling with her is easy and exciting and seeing how she treats others from various backgrounds makes her such a wonderful human being. It makes sense she’s a nurse and takes care of others and sees the humanity in all people. I love that she enjoys the finer things but also values hard work and labor and is the first to roll up her sleeves and get her hands dirty. I love that she has balance when it comes to these things.

One of my favorite things about Francis is how he can be both the most focused, professional man in the room, but can then completely turn into the biggest, most fun-loving goof ball without a care in the world. His goofiness garners the biggest eyerolls from me, but deep down, I love it, and I love laughing with him.

I have imagined Francis as a father since we started dating and it just incites joy into my heart because I know how much it will mean to him to raise a child and shape their life. Francis is the most loyal man I know, and will dedicate every ounce of his being into someone/thing that he loves and finds value in. He is extremely hard working, but can always find the fun in every task. I love that he loves his mom and will do anything for her. He is always open and honest, and will not judge others. I truly never tire of spending time with Francis, he is my best friend.

We live in Irvine, California, a suburban city in Southern California, situated between Los Angeles (1 hour away) and San Diego (1 1/2 hours away). We are about a 20 minute drive from the beach and about 2 hours from the mountains. Irvine has a reputation for having many parks and a great master planned community and most of all, is consistently ranked annually as one of the safest cities in the country. Additionally, Irvine has one of the highest ranked school districts in California, and our neighborhood schools rank the highest within the Irvine Unified School District.

We most enjoy the openness of our house, especially the 1st floor where our family room/kitchen area extends out to a “California Living Room”—sliding glass doors open expansively connecting the family room to this semi-outdoor living space, complete with a TV that hangs above a fireplace. This continues out to an outdoor grass area and patio, built in BBQ with bar seating, and garden boxes. It’s the perfect hang-out spot for Southern California living.

Francis’ mother and stepfather live with us part-time (about 6 months out of the year) as they spend the other 6 months in the Philippines. They spend about 3 months at a time between California and the Philippines. It will be exciting to have them play a significant role in the baby’s life, helping with childcare and rearing, and having grandparents growing up and being close with. Krista’s mom, who is just as excited for the adoption lives about 5 hours away and will also be a constant presence in the baby’s life as she is retired. While Krista’s dad lives in Chicago, he has already talked about visiting often to help support and be present in the baby’s life. We have an incredible group of friends, most of whom have children themselves, who are excited for us to join them in parenthood and have pledged their unconditional support for us and the baby throughout this journey. Overall, we are extremely blessed to have such a village behind us to call upon, ask questions, and lean on.

One of the most important things to us when raising a child is empowering them to be a kind, caring, accepting and respectful human being. We will teach them important values and beliefs, and to live and act consistently with these values and beliefs, while knowing mistakes will be made.  As parents we know mistakes are OK and what is more important is how we parent them through the mistake as they grow as an individual and learn from valuable experiences. It is imperative that we speak highly of you. We will tell your child how much you love them and how selfless you are to make such a difficult decision to find two parents that would provide your child with a stable, loving home for the rest of their life. The last thing we would want is for your child to resent you.  We want them to be proud of their mother who made a life changing decision because you loved them so much.

We are a mixed (Filipino and Caucasian) couple, and we are open to raising a child that has a different ethnic background than one or both of us.

Francis has a Type A personality, can be extremely serious and be the exact opposite and be the most unserious person on the planet, even during serious moments. He’s the most loyal friend you’ll ever have, will find a way to make dreams happen, is creative and is an extremely hard worker and high achieving. Krista exemplifies compassion and patience. She is well received and respected by others. Humble, often to a fault, Krista does not like the spotlight but has high expectations of herself.

An annual tradition we have involving family is visiting Krista’s mother and grandmother in Central California every Thanksgiving and Christmas. Krista’s aunt/uncle and two cousins from Washington come every Christmas as well. Krista is in charge of dessert and always spends months prior researching what new dessert she wants to experiment with. Every 2-3 years, we travel to the Philippines for 2 weeks with Francis’ mother to visit family and to visit different parts of the Philippines we have never been before (the touristy stuff!).

Being able to show a child these different “traditions” will truly be priceless. Culturally, we want them to experience both the “hometown feel” of the holidays, but also experience the way holidays are celebrated in the Philippines and other countries. It is so important to us that a child is brought up to experience and view the many different ways of life and how the world works.

We will make sure they know where they came from, and what an amazing, selfless act of love their mom made in order for them to live a beautiful and prosperous life. You will never be forgotten.
